P4HB mesh: Discover the technology behind it

Composed of material derived from a fermentation process, Poly-4-hydroxybutyrate (P4HB), Phasix™ Mesh provides critical strength during the initial healing phase with rapid tissue ingrowth and vascularization through its open-pore monofilament structure.1

Trust the most studied bioabsorbable mesh on the market

Repair with confidence. Restore with care

Backed by clinical evidence, Phasix™ Mesh is associated with favorable patient-reported QoL outcomes while offering a long-term absorbable option for hernia repair.

What evidence supports Phasix™ Mesh?

The data speaks for itself.

Phasix™ Mesh is the most extensively studied bioabsorbable mesh on the market, with the longest-term data available.

Can mesh selection impact patient quality of life?

Phasix™ Mesh shows an increased quality of life compared to permanent mesh.

Clinical evidence shows that patients undergoing hernia repair with Phasix™ Mesh experienced a statistically significant improvement in quality of life, with QoL scores increasing from 45.6 at baseline to 72 post-operatively (p<0.0001).6

What’s P4HB mesh’s mechanism of action?

The degradation by-products of P4HB consist of carbon dioxide and water, and therefore have minimal effects upon the surrounding microenvironment. The combination of a naturally occurring polymer, benign degradation products, and slow predictable degradation provide a favorable environment for healing, which is important for constructive and functional tissue remodeling.

Phasix™ Mesh gradually and predictably degrades within 12 to 18 months via hydrolysis leaving behind a durable, functional repair with over 3x the strength of the native abdominal wall.1
