{"id":5321,"date":"2023-05-10T09:00:45","date_gmt":"2023-05-10T09:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eu.bd.com\/iv-news\/?p=5321"},"modified":"2023-05-10T07:38:18","modified_gmt":"2023-05-10T07:38:18","slug":"international-nurses-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eu.bd.com\/iv-news\/events-training\/international-nurses-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Invisible to invaluable: Honouring International Nurses Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Worldwide, there are approximately 27 million nurses and midwives, making up nearly 50% of the global healthcare workforce.<sup>1<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>On the 12th of May, we celebrate International Nurses Day by honouring their irreplaceable role as care providers, patient advocates and trailblazers of the future of healthcare.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A brighter future for our nursing workforce<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Interntional Council of Nurses (ICN) announced the theme of this year&#8217;s International Nurses Day as: <strong><em>Our nurses. Our future. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to ICN President Dr Pamela Cipriano, the theme \u201csets out what ICN wants for nursing in the future in order to address the global health challenges and improve global health for all. We need to learn from the lessons of the pandemic and translate these into actions for the future that ensure nurses are protected, respected and valued.&#8221;<sup>2<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>Through their International Nurses Day campaign, ICN is hoping to shed light on a few main topics regarding the nursing workforce:<sup>2<\/sup><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support the call for greater nursing investment and demonstrate what these investments will mean for healthcare and the nursing workforce<\/li>\n<li>Strengthen health systems to address growing global health demands<\/li>\n<li>Chart the future direction of nursing to meet the needs of the \u201cnew normal\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In short, International Nurses Day aims to move nurses \u201cfrom invisible to invaluable\u201d in the eyes of all policymakers, healthcare decisionmakers and members of the public.<sup>2<\/sup><\/p>\n<p><strong>On the front lines of change<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nurses deserve the same care and attention that they provide to their patients.<\/p>\n<p>The World Health Organisation claims that achieving health for all depends on sufficient numbers of well trained, educated, regulated and supported nurses and midwives.<sup>1<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>Dr Cipriano concluded with this statement: \u201cTogether our future depends on every nurse, every voice, to not only be on the front lines of care, but also be on the front lines of change.\u201d<sup>2<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-button-center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.icn.ch\/what-we-do\/campaigns\/international-nurses-day\" class=\"su-button su-button-style-default\" style=\"color:#FFFFFF;background-color:#2D89EF;border-color:#246ec0;border-radius:6px\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color:#FFFFFF;padding:0px 18px;font-size:14px;line-height:28px;border-color:#6cadf4;border-radius:6px;text-shadow:none\"> Learn more about International Nurses Day<\/span><\/a><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Worldwide, there are approximately 27 million nurses and midwives, making up nearly 50% of the global healthcare workforce.1 On the&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":5322,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[13],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-5321","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-events-training","speciality-healthcare-worker-safety","contenttype-article","target-hospital-director-manager","target-nursing","target-occupational-health"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.6 -
